Credit Card Costs and Features

Credit terms can vary among card issuers. When browsing around for a card, try to think about what the purpose of the card is going to be. If you wish to pay your monthly bills in full, the annual fee and other additional charges may be more important than the repayment minimum rate or the APR, if there is a certian period for purchases. If the cash advance feature is used, many card companies do not permit a grace period for the amounts due, so it may still be wiser to consider the interest rate or balance computation method. Also, if you plan to pay for purchases over a period of time, the interest rate and balance computation method would be definite considerations.

You will also want to consider if the credit limit on your chosen card is high enough, how widely the card is accepted, eg nationwide, international, etc, and the various extar card services and features. Some extras include things like affinity cards which are all purpose credit cards usually sponsored by professional organizations, colleges and members of the travel industry. A company that issues affinity cards often donate a portion of the annual fees or other charges to the relevant sponsoring organization, or offers you free travel or other types of bonuses.
